We manage the rhythm. We do not surveil.
This policy covers both Sundial Family and Sundial Browser and explains how we handle your information when you use them.
Information We Collect
Both apps collect a limited amount of anonymous usage information through our analytics provider. Sundial Family additionally sends technical data needed for Live Activity timers. The sections below describe these practices in detail.
Analytics
To improve Sundial Family and Sundial Browser, we use Mixpanel, a privacy-compliant analytics service. Mixpanel helps us understand general app usage trends (for example, how many people complete onboarding or view the premium upgrade screen).
Mixpanel collects anonymous usage data only. No personal information (such as name, email, or individual browsing history) is ever collected, stored, or shared. Mixpanel is fully GDPR and CCPA compliant.
Data Storage and Transmission
Sundial Family — Live Activity
Most functionality is handled locally on your device. To support Live Activity updates (such as cooldown timers displayed on your Lock Screen), Sundial Family sends limited technical data to our secure servers hosted on Microsoft Azure. This data includes:
- A device push token (used solely to deliver Live Activity updates)
- Session timing information (cooldown duration and end time)
This data is used exclusively to send push notifications that update your Live Activity widget. No personal information, user profiles, or browsing activity is collected or stored. Push tokens are not linked to any identifying information and are only used for the duration of an active session.
Sundial Browser — Local Only
Your browsing history, bookmarks, and session state remain on your device. Nothing is transmitted to Sundial servers. No account is required to use the app.
Third-Party Services
Both Sundial Family and Sundial Browser use Mixpanel as their analytics provider. No personal information is shared with this service, and all data is processed in accordance with Apple's privacy guidelines and applicable laws.
Subscription and Payment Data
Both Sundial Family and Sundial Browser offer subscription-based features that are processed entirely through Apple's App Store.
Our Data Collection
We do not collect, store, or process any payment information, billing addresses, credit card details, or other financial data. All subscription transactions are handled exclusively by Apple through their secure App Store infrastructure.
Apple's Role as Payment Processor
Apple acts as the sole payment processor for all subscription transactions. When you purchase a subscription, your payment information (credit card, billing address, payment methods) is transmitted directly to Apple and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We never receive or have access to your payment details.
Your subscription status and purchase history are managed entirely within Apple's systems and can be viewed through your Apple ID account settings.
Subscription Management
Automatic Renewal
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless canceled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Renewal charges will be processed by Apple according to your chosen subscription plan.
Cancellation
You can cancel your subscription at any time through your device's Settings app or through the App Store. To cancel:
- Open Settings on your device
- Tap your name at the top
- Tap “Subscriptions”
- Select Sundial Family or Sundial Browser
- Tap “Cancel Subscription”
You will continue to have access to subscription features until the end of your current billing period.
Refunds
All refund requests are handled by Apple according to their standard refund policy. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com or contact Apple Support directly.
Account Deletion
If you delete a Sundial app from your device, any active subscription remains until you cancel it through your Apple ID settings. Simply deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.
Children's Privacy
Neither app knowingly collects personal data from children. Sundial Family is often used by parents to manage screen time for their family, but its data practices are the same regardless of who uses it. Sundial Browser collects no data from anyone. Both apps comply with COPPA by design.
Changes to This Policy
If any changes are made to this privacy policy, the updated version will be posted on our website with the new effective date.
